This what I saw too in NASA TV coverage, elongated clump of pixels on my TV serving as a computer display. Elongated because 2012da14 was so near and moving so fast relative to Earth that equipment couldn’t keep up!
Not as spectacular as Russia meteor shower earlier today but implications are of course chilling. Tunguska meteorite in Russia 1908 leveled over 2000 square kilometers of forest and would have been able to destroy a large city. Really hope that Near Earth Object programs get the funds they need!
Thanks for Gingin Observatory in Australia for the follow up, nice work. And thanks for the screen capture http://lifeinmono.tumblr.com/
It’s very nice that good people of Russia have such a messy traffic that they drive with dashcams constantly on, waiting for the imminent collision. You get lots of very nice videos of a meteor streaking across the sky!
